I have been totally obsessed Glee. Glee, if you don't know already, is a show about a high school teacher named Will Schuester who loves music. He wants to get his students with musical interests to join a club where they sing and dance to express themselves. But the club, which they call Glee Club, is considered the bottom of the social pyramid so not a lot of people want to join.
When Will puts up a sign up sheet for Glee Club auditions, only five people join. There is Rachel Berry, Kurt Hummel, Mercedes Jones, Tina Cohen Chang, and Artie Abrams. Rachel has amazing vocals and believes she is better than everyone. Kurt is a fashionable boy that is always being bullied and thrown into trash cans. Mercedes is basically the high school version of Whitney Houston with her strong voice. Tina Cohen Chang acts shy and pretends she has a stutter so people will leave her alone. Last but not least, Artie Abrams who doesn't have use of his legs because of a tragic car accident. All of these people are outsiders in high school. Throughout the show, new people are added to the club and they face the harassment of being in Glee Club. The club makes enemies like Coach Sylvester and friends like Emma Pillsbury.
The Glee Club rehearses songs and dances then performs them in competitions. They compete against other school show choirs. The competitions are held every year and the National title is what everyone is shooting for. When the recent group went to Nationals, they placed in second, losing to Throat Explosion. That would be the last competition that anyone would compete in because Glee Club was disbanded by the principal. The principal had made a deal with Mr. Schuester saying that if they didn't win Nationals, the Glee Club would be removed from the club list.
The original glee club members and the newer members are now in college or somewhere fulfilling their dreams. Rachel quit NYADA, a college in New York, to be the lead on the revived Broadway show "Funny Girl" originally starring Barbara Streisand, her idol. Kurt is currently attending NYADA but also trying to release his stardom in a Broadway musical. Mercedes Jones is recording her own album with Santana Lopez, an original but minor character. Blaine Anderson, who is a year younger than the originals, is also attending NYADA and performing in all sorts of benefits. Artie Abrams is in a film school in New York. Lastly, Tina Cohen Chang is attending Brown college, wherever that is.
The whole TV series is almost coming to an end for me because the last season is season 6. I have no idea what the future will hold for Glee Club. The newest members are still attending McKinley High. There names are Kitty, Jake, Marley, and Ryder. Season 6 ended with a boom when Rachel got offered her own T.V. show called the Rachel Berry Show. As soon as Rachel got the offer, she quit her role as Fanny Brice in the Broadway show because it didn't live up to her expectations. There probably won't be a season 7, especially since Glee Club was banned from the school arts program because of budget cuts.
I thought Glee was an amazing show. My favorite characters throughout the whole series were Marley, Jake, and Blaine. They really brought the drama to the show. At first, I didn't really like Blaine or Jake. Blaine was apart of the competition team and Jake was just a messy troublemaker. But in the end, Jake and Blaine turned out to be really strong characters. I had no doubts about Marley though. She was nice and never bragged about her awe-inspiring voice. Glee had kept me up until 2 in the morning because it was so good! I wish it would continue.
